On 24th December, the 1st Irish Guards of 4th (Guards) Brigade, 2nd Division, left their billets in Rue de l’Epinette and moved into some trenches at Festubert where they remained for the rest of the month. Eric Gough was killed by a stray bullet on 30th December while in command of his company. |
